Well lads and lasses. The weekend went well and according to sources the best one so far, By the Friday night the majority found there way to the Holiday inn Cardiff. to be greeted by the Duty quartermaster Mike Brady (don't forget mikes book). Lots of lamp swinging and seeing of some people not seen for 25 - 40 years. Welcome lads and hope you  stay in touch.

During the Dog watch most went to grab a bite to eat and sponsor Burger Kings takings, well done Don.  Those who stayed at the hotel had a somewhat better meal. the remainder had liquid meals. then it was off to the Cardiff institute to see old friends from past reunions. again well done to the Llandaff lads and ladies, you did us proud.

The evening eventually broke up at the institute and members made their way to assault the bars of the Holiday Inn. where again a good time was had by all . Seems like a few were doing their best to drink the bar stocks dry, names hidden to protect the innocent well done lads for at least trying. Some must have thought they were still back in the good old days and went on the pull. or those that were beaten by the need for sleep (or cowered to the partners voice) tried to master the locks in the hotels with the key cards, no names mentioned for someone who admitted defeat and had to have a bit of help from the night receptionist.

Saturday.

Morning started with a muster in the breakfast room a bite of toast for the more sensitive or some even managed to eat a full breakfast , wonders how many were there with just a little hangover.

after breakfast the duty escorts (partners) led the lads out into the town to take out their  revenge on the plastic hidden away in the wallets deep out of reach from them. I bet the spend per head of population in the Cardiff area soared. to a new height and the retailers rubbed their hands in delight at seeing the lads led by their ears into the shops. Some Retail escapees managed to slip into the bars and watch England wipe a few smiles off of the bar staff with a win over the Taffs. Well done England.

After a bath and dhobi the lads headed to The institute for a couple of light beverages and a little lamp swinging before the entertainment began, Nikki Dean was a hit with all and soon had them in good voice. even a few managed a little soft shoe shuffle with the ladies to keep them happy. after that the famous Slingers raffle. any funds left over were placed behind the bar to help fund a extra beer or three. Well done to Slinger and helpers,  as per normal. You came through with a good weekend

During the evening there was also a demonstration of bread cutting 1970's sods opera style by the last club swinger Ken Rutherford who had many of the lads and ladies in stitches

The formalities were wound up after speeches from the organizer  and the Institute chairmen who looks forward to this annual pilgrimage to their facilities. with penciled in promises of another trip to their facilities next year a date will be provided.

After leaving the Institute the lads mustered in the bar at the hotel for a little nightcap retiring to their rooms about 02:00 .

From information received there was no need for a defaulters table during that weekend

Sunday

The morning arrived with sadness in many hearts the hung over and a few of the remainder managed a breakfast to soak up the pervious nights drink or three,  Station cards were then handed in and the trip home commenced. no doubt taking in a bar or two on the way to the station or bus. Drivers stayed on lemonade and stayed sober I hope.
